ANNUAL LIVING HISTORY/REENACTMENT EVENT

NOVEMBER 16-17, 2013

Historic Stonewall Manor - It Takes an Army

They say sometimes it takes an army to get things off the ground, and that’s exactly what Historic Stonewall Manor will have as we reopen the house to the public after a long Summer and Fall filled with nagging but necessary repairs that prevented us from being open to the public. Historic Stonewall Manor is happy to announce that we will host our Annual Fall Living History/Reenactment event the weekend of November 16th & 17th.  We will be joined by:

OLDE SOUTH BLACKSMITH, TARHEEL SUTLERY, YELLOW ROSE SUTLERY, LATHAMS BATTERY 13NC CO.B, N.C.NAVAL SQUADREN, EDENTON BELL BATTERY 3RD NC CO.B,  BATTERY 10TH NC CO.D, DIXIE LAND ARTILLERY, THE BLACK RIVER TIGER ROSES CHAPTER 50 NORTH CAROLINA SOCIETY CONFEDERATE ROSES, THE TARHEEL CIVILIANS, TAR RIVER DUCLIMERS AND MATHEW BRADY, RENOWNED CIVIL WAR PHOTOGRAPHER.

There will be hands on activities such as spinning and weaving, blacksmith demonstrations, live music, historical photography displays and photography lessons, cannon fire, skirmishes, musket shooting and more.  There will be sutlers with unique period merchandise for sale as well as concessions.  We encourage those that haven’t attended one of these events to join us and take a step back into time and see what life was like for men, women and children during the Civil War Period.  For those that have attended, we welcome you back and hope you’ll enjoy this event as much as you have enjoyed others.

We will be open both Saturday and Sunday from 11-4; fees are $5.00 – adults, $3.00 – seniors, $2.00 – children (6 and under free).  For more information, email us at stonewalllf@embarqmail.com or call 252-904-0744.

Greetings from Historic Stonewall Manor.  We are located near the Falls of the Tar River in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Built circa 1830 by Bennett Bunn, a well established and prosperous planter in Nash County, Stonewall provides unique insight into the Antebellum Plantation Lifestyle of the South.  Stonewall's scale and sophistication of design make it one of the truly elegant plantation houses in North Carolina.

We are open to the public for tours during regularly scheduled hours as well as by appointment.  We also offier individuals or groups a beautiful location for teas, receptions, and other civic and social events.  The historic property is being preserved and the Nash County Historical Association, caretaker of the Manor, encourages you to use it and participate in its restoration.  For further information, use the links on this page. Please join us in celebrating the rich history that Stonewall Manor has to offer.

Stonewall Manor is currently looking for individuals interested in becoming a part of our Historic Gardening Committee.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with the ressurection of Stonewall's beautiful gardens, and to create something for future generations to enjoy.  If you are interested, please contact Lauren Filliettaz at 252-442-0063, or email us at stonewalllf@embarqmail.com.

Stonewall Manor is currently looking for individuals interested in becoming a docent/tour guide.  Please contact Lauren Filliettaz at 252-442-0063 for more information in regards to this opportunity.
